The Brotherhood - Elementalz (Throwback Review)

The Brotherhood - Elementalz (1996)

Released in 1996, Elementalz is the second album released by the UK group The Brotherhood. I'm not really familiar with much hip-hop from outside of the U.S. (help me change that and suggest some others), but this album is really dope. The Brotherhood consists of two MCs (Mr Shylock and Mr Spyce), and a DJ (Mister Dexter). I'm not sure if the main producer on this album (The Underdog) was a member of the group or not, but he produced all of the tracks on here, as far as I can tell. So how is it? Click to find out.

Masta Killah - Selling My Soul (Review)

Masta Killah - Selling My Soul (2012)

I have been waiting on Masta Killah's third solo album "Loyalty is Royalty" for a few years now. In that time, various singles off of it were released or leaked and the hype was starting to build. Then suddenly, Masta Killah announces he will be dropping an album entitled "Selling My Soul" and that "Loyalty is Royalty" will come out some time after that. Released back in late 2012, "Selling My Soul" features some of the tracks and singles that were meant for "Loyalty is Royalty", but is its own album. How does it sound? Click to find out.

Inspectah Deck with 7L & Esoteric - CZARFACE (Review)

Inspectah Deck with 7L & Esoteric - CZARFACE

CZARFACE is a collaboration hip-hop album between Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck and 7L & Esoteric. I had mixed feelings when this album was announced since Inspectah Deck has always had trouble making full albums and I'm not a huge fan of 7L & Esoteric. How did the album turn out? Click to find out.

Killah Priest - The Psychic World of Walter Reed (Disc 1) Review

Killah Priest - The Psychic World of Walter Reed (2013)

I'm going to break this review for P.W.O.W.R up into two separate posts since there are 41 tracks spanning the two discs. Also, this will be a kind of "train-of-thought" review since, well, there are 41 track to get through. Click below to read the review for Disc 1. You can read the review for Disc 2 here.

Papoose - The Nacirema Dream

Looks like Papoose is finally about ready to drop his long-awaited official debut album "The Nacirema Dream". HHNM has posted the tracklisting and cover art for the album, which is due out on March 26th. If you're not up on Papoose, he signed a deal with Jive Records back in 2006 and announced "The Nacirema Dream" around that same time. Seven years and about 20 mixtapes later, the album finally has a solid release date.

Here is the tracklisting

Tonedeff - Polymer

Some information about Tonedeff's new album "Polymer" was recently released via the QN5 website. It seems he is going to release "Polymer" as four separate EPs (or molecules) which, when combined, will form the final album. The first EP, entitled "Glutton" will be released digitally on February 26, 2013 and will deal "with the concept of excess and addiction over self-produced uptempo tracks."

This will be Tonedeff's first album since "Archetype", which was released way back in 2005, so I'm pretty excited to finally get to hear some new songs by him. To tide you over, here is a track from the unreleased "Chico and the Man" collaboration album. Its hard to go wrong with Tonedeff on the vocals and Kno on the beat.

CunninLynguists - Strange Journey Volume Three

The CunninLynguists announced a few months ago that they were in the process of recording "Strange Journey Volume Three." Given their past track record, its pretty safe to say that anything these guys drop is going to be quality music. I am a huge fan of all of their prior works, both group and solo albums. The great thing about Volume Three, however, is that it is going to be Executive Produced and A&R’d by fans through the groups Facebook page. So far its looking like the album will feature appearances by Del the Funky Homosapian, Murs, Toby (formerly of Inverse) and Thomax. I'm sure there will be plenty more, but these are the ones that seem to have been confirmed so far.

There is still time to vote on the direction the album takes, so hit up their page on Facebook and vote!

In the meantime, here is one of my favorite tracks from their last group effort "Oneirology", released back in 2011, titled "Stars Shine Brightest (In the Darkest of Night)".

You can pick up "Oneirology" and CunninLynguists other classic albums on or on iTunes.

Kendrick Lamar feat Drake - Poetic Justice (Video)

So Kendrick Lamar dropped his video for Poetic Justice today. I really love Kendricks music and what he is doing for Hip Hop, but I wasn't quite as impressed with this video as I thought I would be. With that being said, its not a bad video by any means. I was just expecting a different direction for the video than what the end product turned out to be. Still, the song is great and sure to blow K.Dot up even more than he already has.

If you haven't already bought the full album "good kid, m.A.A.d city" off Amazon or on iTunes, make sure you do so. Its definitely one of top albums, if not the best album, from 2012.

Sean Price - BBQ Sauce

Sean Price just released a new video for the track "BBQ Sauce" from his latest album "Mic Tyson."
This was one of my favorite tracks off the album, which I consider to be one of the best hip-hop albums of 2012.
The video is hilarious. Peep it below.

As always, remember to pick up a copy of Mic Tyson on or on iTunes and support the artist.

Killah Priest - The Psychic World of Walter Reed Snippets

Killah Priest is FINALLY about to release his new album "The Psychic World of Walter Reed" on February 25, 2013. This album was announced what seems like forever ago and has suffered through numerous delays. Priest has always been one of my favorite MCs and I consider his first solo album, Heavy Mental, to be one of the upper echelon Wu-Fam releases. Production on P.W.O.W.R is mostly handled by Godz Wrath, but also features some tracks by The Rza, True Masta, 4th Disciple, Ayatollah and St. Peter. Featured guests are Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Rza and Gza, among others.

Priest recently released snippets of the full album and all of the tracks sound really promising.

You can pre-order the full album on the PWOWR website.

The Rise of the Ghostface Killah

So Ghostface Killah and Adrian Younge are releasing a collaboration album executive produced by The Rza? Sounds too good to be true, but its not. The album will be titled "Twelve Reasons To Die" and the first single has already been released via Rza's Soul Temple Music label. The single, "The Rise of the Ghostface Killah", sounds like something straight off of Ironman. Supposedly, the album is based on a comic book of the same name with Tony Starks being played by Ghostface Killah as he reads the comic and writes songs to it. The full album is set to be released on April 16, 2013.

You can buy the single and pre-order the album on the Soul Temple Music Bandcamp page.

S.T 2 Lettaz - Trillmatic Video

If you have never heard of G-Side or S.T. 2 Lettaz, now is a good time to start catching up. G-Side was a duo out of Huntsville, AL consisting of emcees S.T. and Clova. Most of their beats are courtesy of the Block Beattaz and are usually very cinematic while retaining that down south influence. Sadly, G-Side parted ways a few months back and have begun to pursue their own solo endeavors.

Here is the first single from S.T. 2 Lettaz solo album, "The G...Growth & Development," entitled "Trillmatic." The song starts out with a nice hip-hop inspired instrumental, and then adds in some more southern elements towards the end. Great song.

The full album is due out on 3/15/13 and will probably be available via S.T.'s bandcamp page.

CZARFACE (Inspectah Deck and 7L & Esoteric)

CZARFACE is a collaboration album between Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck and 7L & Esoteric. The self-titled album was released on February 19th and features guest appearances from Ghostface Killah, Cappadonna, Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Oh No (of Gangrene), and Vinnie Paz. Production is mostly handled by 7L and Spada4, but Gangstarr's DJ Premier makes a production appearance on the track "Let It Off". It's no "Above the Clouds", but its nice to hear Deck over another Premo beat. The album is really solid all the way through, with a reinvigorated Inspectah Deck just destroying every verse. Esoteric actually surprised me on this album and stepped up his lyrics and flow to go toe-to-toe with Deck. The beats are good throughout and keep with the rock influenced-slash-comic-book theme of the album cover.

Here is the video for "Air'em Out", which is the first official single off the album.

If you like the single, remember to pick up a copy of Czarface on or on iTunes and support the artists. We need more Hip-Hop like this!
