Panama - Against the Wall

New York City hip-hop artist and The Wire actor Panama just sent me over this dope single from his upcoming mixtape "The Panama Canal", which is due out in mid-August. The track is called "Against the Wall" and its produced by Black Jab.
"Here me vent and speak my mind. Some artists are quick to follow a certain trend and fall short of their dream because they lack originality. I chose to bring my Panamanian pride to the masses and although it may not be the most popular thing to do I'm happy doing it and moving on my own merit. The industry may try to block you out but when you are real with yourself no one can diminish you or your brand. When the machine believes they have me against the wall I find ways to prevail. Without further due, here is my latest record. Humble."
Very nice.

Kojey Radical - Peter Pan Diet Two (Video)

"Peter Pan Diet Two" is the latest installment of "Chapter Two", the new collection of work from East London artist and writer Kojey Radical focused primarily around spoken word and film, but drawing from his diverse range of influences as a mixed media artist.

"The 5th release as part of the project, "Peter Pan Diet Two" sees a much more aggressive style to Kojey's writing, outlining early weaknesses and attacking them head on with honest stanzas and complex rhyming patterns - demonstrating a huge growth since "Peter Pan Diet One" which was known for it's raw social statements, hungry lyrics and delivery. "Peter Pan Diet Two" keeps this same energy going but from what almost sounds like a split personality. Beginning with a calm, stuttered, more ominous flow and later developing into a much harder potent attack, Kojey shows off more of his influences by developing on Big Pun's “little Italy” flow from 'Twinz (Deep Cover 98')' and closes the piece off with a twist on the ending of its predecessor.
"Chapter Two" culminates on August 28th ending with a live show, exhibition and screening of Kojey's next Fashion Film Lagom: Assez the anticipated sequel to his debut short film Lagom Ar Battre."

Ces - Namaste (Video)

Up-and-coming emcee Ces just sent over this lyric video for his track "Namaste", which features Ces spitting over an ill LA Chase instrumental. The beat is laid-back and provides a nice soundscape to complement the uplifting message of the song.
"Ces takes the originally hindu valediction "Namaste" most closely translated to meaning "the god in me also acknowledges the god in you" and extends it to his own life and own trials growing up as a bullied child due to racial differences. The apathy that Ces once had for life had transformed once he realized that all humans had a deeper light within their souls turning his apathy for life into an apathy for apathy itself. Ces encourages other human beings in his song to realize that they too are gods and to love life no matter what or who tries to intervene because the god aspect deep in everyone's heart is truly the most important thing."
Very dope track. Don't sleep on this.

Hopefully they can work out their issues and drop a new album in the near future. Oh, and we still need that Killa Sin solo. Anyways, peep the new Dom P video below. Shit's dope.

The Top 5 Hip-Hop Producers of 2013 (So Far)

A few weeks back I posted up a list of my top rap albums of 2013, which was just a quick post to highlight the albums I was feelin the most as of the halfway point of 2013. I had started writing up a similar post to feature my favorite hip-hop producers at the same time, but it got lost in the shuffle and I just now found the time to finish it off. So here it is, my top hip-hop music producers as of the midway point of 2013. Lets start at number 5...

Infamous Sunn (Big Twins & Prodigal Sunn) - Block Holiday (Video)

Both Prodigal and Big Twins have been layin it down for years and are highly underrated in my opinion. They have each been featured on a ton of classic rap songs in the past, so it will be nice to hear what they come up with for this release. No word on when the full project is going to drop, but I'll definitely be on the lookout.

Flesh of the Mind - Hell's Passover (Video)

The group recently released a video for the track "Hell's Passover", which is the first single off of their upcoming self-titled debut album "Flesh of the Mind." According to A.L. Laureate, the concept of the track is
"what would happen on the day of the world ends and different theories that have been said throughout time (example the bible, human terms and observations, etc.) and if/or a antichrist will rise to claim his spot on the earth through these series of events."
The song is really dope and showcases A.L. Laureate's thought-provoking lyrics over SoulSeekers haunting production. "Flesh of the Mind" will be released on vinyl in limited quantities on the groups Bandcamp site. For now, make sure you check out the video below.

"After being in production for almost two years, C.G. and ATG are excited to put this out for the world. Their collaboration has created a truly special emcee and producer bond, and ATG's production has pushed C.G. in a more musical direction. He has always been known for his lyrical abilities, but "O.T.M.O.P." shows him flexing his songwriting muscle while being more apt to creating the right collaborations."

Zaid Tabani - Live And Direct (Video)

"Live and Direct" is the first single of Zaid "Redrapper" Tabani's new album, "LIMBO", which will be available on Bandcamp and iTunes sometime later today.
